I find it strange that Anathema have won album of the year for âThe Optimistâ when in my opinion (and i accept itâs just personal judgement), their previous 3 albums have all been better and The Optimist offers nothing new over them.
Also donât understand how a band can be awarded âbest band of the yearâ, ie, Marillion, yet the album theyâve released doesnât pick up the corresponding award. Surely a band is judged on itâs album output, so either Marillion win âbest bandâ and âbest albumâ with F.E.A.R., or Anathema win âbest bandâ and âbest albumâ wirh The Optimist.
To split the awards between the two makes no sense.
I agree Andy. I enjoyed The Optimist, but honestly in hindsight I also feel a little uninspired by it too. The last 3 were stronger albums in my opinion. Seems strange they win this time.
Congrats to them anyway on the success. Deserved.
