Eels - The Cautionary Tales Of Mark Oliver Everett
This is the only Eels album I have. Guy in my local record shop says albums are a bit repetitive? See that you listen to them a lot. Any recommendations?
The guy isnât exactly wrong but I like nearly everything what E does. I just listened all the studio albums from the first to the latest because I felt like it.
To you Lawrie Iâd recommend now âElectro-Shock Bluesâ which is probably my favourite though it isnât very easy listening. Quote from wiki: âThe album deals with many difficult subjects including suicide, death, and cancer. The tragedy of Everettâs fatherâs death became prominent once more in the context of his motherâs pending death and his sisterâs suicideâŚâ
Next recommendation would be Souljacker which is more up-tempo, varied and rocking.
Third one could be either the predecessor for the one you have which is âWonderful, Gloriousâ or quite many-sided âBlinking Lights and Other Revelationsâ.
With those you can get a pretty wide perspective to Eâs world and you can expand it more if you feel like it.
