I watched 2 new long interviews with Steve Hackett yesterday on YouTube, where he was mostly discussing the 50th anniversaries of Trick Of The Tail and Wind And Wuthering. Very interesting insight into the songs, the creation and recording processes. Stuff that was left off and his relationships at the time with other band members. Always like how Steve remains very civil and diplomatic about what must have been a difficult time for him. Banks and Rutherford were very dominant.
I thought it was interesting when he was talking about going to a Genesis gig, several years after he left, when they were touring Duke. He said it was only then that he realised how great the band were and he came away so impressed that he almost had a sense of regret at having walked away. A case of not being able to see the wood for the trees when he was still a member. It was Duke that pushed him on to try and improve his solo work.
