Quite a contrast with yesterday’s one man band and this evening Yesterwynde with 97 pcs philharmonic orchestra, 65 pcs opera choir and 55 pcs children choir. What a spectacle! We loved it.
Oasis in NJ (Sunday night)
The haters are gonna hate but it was superb. An amazing show and awesome experience. ![]()
Doesn’t matter what the haters say. Glad you enjoyed it Mike.
I’m still on a high from it tbh. The 6 hour wait to be on the barrier was well worth it. Crazy I know. But having travelled for the gig, paying for flights and hotel, I wanted to make sure I got the most out of it. I know not everyone is a fan (hence my haters comment
) but I loved it.
I don’t hate them - went to see them in Cardiff (think it was 1996) and was tempted this time around but the hassle of getting anywhere near a ticket combined with the dynamic pricing nonsense put me off.
My opinion is 2 very good albums at the start which they never matched, and a singer who cannot sing.
That is the best review Oasis have ever had.
Auri tonight in Manchester , just so nice to relax and listen to some beautifully performed music and just forget about what a fucked up country (not world anymore we live in).
First of four shows in eight days. Last night was The Darkness w/ Mark Daly as support. The Darkness were excellent as always (even with the sound issues). First time hearing Mark Daly. Very impressive. It’s not often I buy the CD of a support band I’ve not heard of before at a show but they were that good, so I did!
Managed to catch a couple of picks and a fragment of a broken (Rufus Taylor) drumstick that would have hit me in the face had I not caught it.
Also ran into Justin before the show.
I went to see David Gilmour - Live at Circus Maximus at the cinema last night, excellent film, thought that Luck & Strange worked better live where it was fleshed our. The four singers, including Romany G, do a lovely version of ‘Great gig in the sky’ around the piano in harmony rather than the traditional three solos
Steven Wilson
The band … phenomenal. Randy McStine was just incredible on the guitar.
The audience … a bunch of old codgers ![]()
I really don’t get what the problem is with these artists when it comes to taking the occasional photo. Comes across as pretty snotty. Most audience members take a photo at some point.
I took some photos yesterday at Marko Hietala gig, I was standing right in front of him and he paid attention to my Phil Lynott T-shirt, gave compliments and shook my hand. ![]()
What a great guy and band was in top form.
Dream Theater
The show was split in two, with a brief intermission. The first set was the last album played in full. Just superb. The second set was older material which I was less familiar with. But still awesome. The band are without question, top tier.
The guy in front of me was wearing this shirt …
… and the intro to the second set was Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra … spooky! ![]()
I like how it says, “ This shirt was remastered. “ Mine might be in the t-shirt bag in the loft? It`s probably no more than a rag now.
Those ‘Remastered’ shirts were sold on the Marillion website in the early 2000’s. I bought the Script one.
Edit: Found it in the basement.
Doesn’t look like I ever wore it???
Sure, the odd photo is fine and I’m guilty for those as I take quite a lot of photos from near the front for the Maximum Volume Music site as Andy has to sit in the disabled section.
But there are plenty of people who film the whole gig on their phone and a couple of weeks ago at the Stone Broken gig there was one chap getting a lot of abuse for filming the whole thing on a tablet. In my view he should have been warned then thrown out
Totally. Occasional photos are fine, prolonged filming is not. That’s my view. You have to differentiate.
